Property Rights Education Conference

Aug 20 2009 - 9:00am
Aug 20 2009 - 4:00pm

A Property Rights Education Conference will be held on August 20, 2009 in the Jepson Center’s Wolff Auditorium at Gonzaga University.  Sessions are scheduled from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.  Parking is free.

The featured keynote speaker is Mountain States Legal Foundation CEO William Perry Pendley. “Our constitutional liberties are under siege today more than at any time in our country’s history,” said Pendley, “including the right to own and use property.  It is vitally important that all Americans inform themselves about the threats to our liberties and take action to fight back.  This conference is an excellent first step in doing just that.”

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers will provide opening remarks about the state of property rights at the federal level. “Well-meaning legislation and regulation at the state and federal levels can often handcuff Eastern Washington farmers and small business owners,” McMorris Rodgers said. “I look forward to discussing what property owners can do when faced with these bureaucratic nightmares.”

Other speakers from across the state, including Stevens County Farm Bureau President Wes McCart, will provide keynote speeches and smaller breakout sessions that focus on eminent domain, water rights, the foundations of private property, the Growth Management Act, state and federal climate change proposed legislation, and setting up a property rights group.

Registration ($40) includes lunch if paid by August 10. After the deadline or at the door, the cost is $50 (no lunch).  Doors open at 8:30 am with morning refreshments provided.
