OLYMPIA - The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) is sponsoring a free pesticide disposal event at Puyallup next month, but the deadline to sign up is approaching fast-Aug. 6.

The Puyallup event will take place Aug. 31. WSDA staff sets sign-up deadlines to respond to farm or business site visit requests and plan for an efficient collection event.

Public comment period to be extended on Kittitas groundwater rule

YAKIMA - In response to requests from the public, the Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) will extend the comment period for a proposed rule for managing underground water resources in upper Kittitas County.

Comments will now be accepted until Aug. 25, 2010, adding 14 days to the comment period, which was due to expire Aug. 11, 2010.
