OLYMPIA - The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) is sponsoring a two-day pesticide disposal event May 4-5 in Yakima, but the deadline to sign up is March 23. The event will be held May 4 and May 5 for persons who contact WSDA by March 23. WSDA is encouraging farmers, businesses, residents and landowners to inspect their storage sheds, barns, shops and garages and look for agricultural and commercial-grade pesticide products that are no longer needed or wanted. WSDA's waste pesticide program has been very successful in Yakima County, collecting 27,000 pounds of unwanted pesticides last year in the county and more than 40,000 pounds in 2007. | ||
