What is the Safety Star Program?
The Safety Star Program promotes the efforts of Retro/Safety members that create excellent safety and health programs through continual evaluation, correction, training, and implementation. The goal is to create the safest workplace in Washington's agricultural industry. Here are some of the benefits:
-
Public recognition as a safe workplace.
-
Higher refunds of industrial insurance payments.
-
Employer and employee cost savings with lower, up-front industrial insurance costs.
-
Improves morale and communication with workforce.
-
Less accidents.
-
Postivie recognition by the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). Given less priority for inspections.
-
Deferred routine inspection by DOSH for 1 year. If non-routine inspection must occur, it will be focused.
How do I Qualify to be a Safety Star Member?
To qualify as a Safety Star participant members must have a continually successful safety program that involves worker participation, annual safety inspections by Farm Bureau Safety Directors, and regular attendance at Retro/Safety workshops and training. There is an application, inspection, and follow-up process that all Safety Star participants must successfully complete before being certified for Safety Stars.
