Unemployment Insurance: The Essentials (Two Part Series)

With the recent congressional extention to the bill to keep unemployment at its current 99 WEEKS, (that is nearly two years, for heavens sake!) one thing is for sure – EMPLOYERS WILL PAY FOR IT.   The good news – take a few minutes to learn about how the system works, and you’ll pay less – hundreds or thousands less – than employers who do nothing to face the problem.

August 5 Thurs. from 11A - Noon
Unemployment Insurance: Understanding the Notice to Base Year
Employer - Part Two of Two Part Series
Did you know that you can be charged for an unemployment claim - EVEN IF YOU NEVER LAY A PERSON OFF?  That’s right – if you don’t fill out the Notice to Base Year Employer (EMS 166) - you may be charged for a portion of a claim that occurred when another employer terminated a worker who previously worked for you.   Farm Bureau is projecting substantial increases in unemployment insurance premiums in the coming years and you need to manage this area of your business.  In this program, the following will be explained:

  • What reasons qualify the employer to request relief of benefit charges?
  • How to read the form and what it all means?
  • What is the process to request relief of benefit charges?
  • Is requesting relief worth it and how will I know it has been granted?
